Jean Tinguely

Inventors and tinkerers, the artists Jean Tinguely or Pol Bury sought to go beyond painting by designing mobile, three-dimensional works. Powered by an electric motor at the back, these works dependent on chance are set in motion by the artist or the spectator, questioning the very foundations of classical painting and its static, two-dimensional format.
