This exhibition aims primarily to showcase the extraordinary vitality of this great art explorer. His work spans five decades, encompassing almost all disciplines of visual arts and numerous forays into decorative arts, graphic design, and stage decor. Riopelle employs virtually every possible technique, including painting, sculpture, ink drawing, watercolor, gouache, charcoal, pastel, sanguine, silver point, mixed media, as well as printmaking, ceramics, collage, assemblage, and installation. The diversity of his work, along with the range of periods and themes he explored, make him one of the most multidisciplinary and prolific artists of the second half of the 20th century.
