In 2019, the Fondation Maeght will offer a programme closely linked to its history and extraordinary heritage, under the guidance of guest curators who have designed exhibitions based on the works of the Foundation. This year, the exhibition halls of this unique and timeless place are dedicated to rediscovering the richness of the collection.
L’ESPRIT D’UNE COLLECTION : LES DONATIONS.
Until 16 June 2019
Guest curator: Henri-François Debailleux, art critic.
Until 16 June, the Fondation Maeght presents, under the direction of art critic Henri-François Debailleux, "L'esprit d'une collection: les donations", a new exhibition of selected pieces from its collection. Acquired through the years thanks to the donations of the Marguerite and Aimé Maeght couple, this extraordinary collection of works of art was later expanded thanks to the donations of artists, friends, family, collectors, relatives and lovers of the foundation. It is this state of mind, generosity and benevolence that is being honoured until spring at the Fondation Maeght, in a display that allows visitors to contemplate, with a renewed eye, the diversity and richness of one of Europe's most important collections of modern and contemporary paintings, sculptures, graphic works and drawings.
JOAN MIRÓ. AU-DELÀ DE LA PEINTURE.
29 June - 17 November 2019
Guest Curator: Rosa Maria Malet, Historical Director of the Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona.
From 29 June to 17 November 2019, the Maeght Foundation will be celebrating Joan Miró, a major player in the creation of the Foundation, alongside the Maeght couple and their friend and architect Josep Lluís Sert. The exhibition "Joan Miró. Au-delà de la peinture." whose curator is Rosa Maria Malet, historical director of the Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona, allows the public the opportunity to discover the exceptional graphic work of the Catalan master while understanding his creative process. Due in large part to an exceptional donation made by Adrien Maeght, who worked with Miró in his workshops at the ARTE printing house, 200 works, including a collection of unpublished gouaches, models, posters, engravings, original lithographs, printing plates, final proofs and bibliophilic works, showcase this prodigious work.
